Mustang Sign Group was recently contracted to install a full vehicle wrap for one of the fastest-growing lubrication product lines in the consumer automotive aftermarket, Lucas Oil.  Although the wrap was nothing we hadn’t seen before, the timeline was!  We were contacted by a third party printer based out of Arizona on Wednesday, and they requested that the wrap was finished and turned back over to the customer by Monday.

Lucas Oil Truck Wrap

Excited by the prospect of a new client and a cool design, we were eager to accept and make accommodations to fit our client’s schedule.  Although we don’t normally work weekends, we assembled a small team to come in on Saturday and the process began.

Saturday morning, we began by thoroughly cleaning the vehicle and removing any emblems/decals.  This process took about an hour and by the time we were wrapping up, the overnighted FedEx package carrying the vinyl arrived.

Although we love working with Avery product, we are comfortable working with all types of vinyl and manufacturers, and got started with the 3MIJ180 wrap vinyl we were provided.

When we take on install only jobs it’s hard to know what we might run into because we didn’t get the chance to survey the vehicle ahead of time and put together the design to our specifications.  Normally it is not a huge issue, but on this install the print was about 3 inches short on a couple panels.  This was the most difficult part of the entire wrap, but through some creative install and vinyl work we were able to come up with a solution to keep our project running on time and in the customer’s hands as promised.

Our team finished the majority of the wrap on Saturday and came back for some final touch ups and a quality assurance check on Sunday, and was ready to hand the vehicle over to the client first thing Monday morning.

Even though we had to bring the team in for a weekend install, and ran into several issues on the install, we were very happy with the finished product and more importantly the client was very happy!
